HOMAGE
CD AND STYLED BY ME
dis 4 the culture. dis 4 the little brown boy that struggled growing up trying to be himself. dis 4 you. Happy Birthday 🇵🇰
This shoot is by far one of the most meaningful things I’ve done. I wanted to go back where it all began and what better thing than my roots.
The concept behind this was to mix gender roles; men’s clothing with women’s jewelry and makeup. To show the beauty of both sides. The past few months I’ve been reconnecting with my culture so much and what’s so beautiful to me is that I’ve been doing it in my own way. I’ve been taking my style and mixing my culture with it to create something so beautiful. I’m already very in tune with my masculinity/femininity so to do all this... complete bliss.
Many old school Pakistanis might see this and think im destroying the culture, but not at all. There’s an extraordinary feeling when you see someone take one thing and create it into something that is not really NORMALLY seen. Emphasis on the word “normally.” You have to be out of the box. People are gonna think you’re weird and crazy, but truthfully you have to be a little crazy to make new things happen.
To all the desi kids that are also struggling to be themselves because of rules, family, etc. Do not stop trying. Keep being you no matter how hard it gets. Forget what people think. Forget the “log kia kaha gain” that our parents and elders put on us and just be YOU. Till the end, I’m for my people 🇵🇰
